Hey, just got my 2003 FX45 and went to only upscale audio/video shop in town (Sioux City). Wanted to get the Viper 5901 alarm and remote start installed. Took their top install guy all day and still counting. They called alarm manufacturer (DEI) and were told that FX base security system quirks mean that if/when I use the Viper remote start it will start car AND unlock doors. Apparently Viper system talks to Infiniti alarm system and to get the Infiniti system to disarm and allow car to start, it must set doors to unlock? The Viper would apparently remain armed but of course someone walking by could just open door and do a quick grab and run.
Does this sound right? Is there any way anyone knows to get Viper to remote start and keep doors locked? Sounds crazy to me. Of course, car is still in shop cause DEI and installer were having problems even finding correct door wires to tap into. DEI said black and later orange but apparently it ended up being yellow with black stripe? Anyways, apparently the doors apparently require some sort of bypass module to interface - on top of the key start bypass module they are already putting in. So now hoping to get this tomorrow and trying to figure out quick if there is something DEI and installer don't know on how to remote with doors staying locked. Appreciate any thoughts I could pass along. Thanks! Mike

They won't be able to jump in and drive the car - when they step on the brake the car will shut off and they won't be able to restart it.

the shop finally got mine working right. Apparently, they said the 1st junior installer was tapping into the right color wires but at the wrong point in the system. Now my car can remote start without the factory alarm forcing the doors unlocked.
