2006 Buick Lucerne, Bulldog RS1200E Remote Start

I recently installed a Bulldog RS1200E remote start on a 2006 Buick Lucerne.Using Bulldogs website I installed according to their wiring diagram. I used relays for the ign delay and the acc drop and a pkucg2x for the transponder and an xko1 for door locks/alarm bypass. I didn't use any wires on the pkucg2x other than the transponder loop and the brown ground wire and hot, ground wires. I did not hook up anything to the resistor wires or voltage wires on the car. I also didn't hook up the acc wire ( BLACK/ White wire ) from the remote start because when I remote start the car everything works fine. The problem I am having is that I can't program the extra remote nor can I program the run time,cold start etc. I have tried to get a hold of Tech support to no avail. Any ideas? As I stated everything works great other than the programing.Thanks, Kim

Yes it does,and the brake wire on this particular car was strange because it hooked up in the passenger kick panel instead of the usual brake pedal. I have installed many remotes, but am new to this type of ignition and bypass.Thanks, Kim

I'm not exactly sure what you mean about using relays for "ignition delay" and the accessory. But, if the Bulldog's Ignition 1 wire isn't connected directly to the car's Ignition 1 wire, then the Bulldog unit isn't going to "see" when the car's ignition is on. So probably you're supposed to cycle the key on and off to get into programming, right? Well, the remote starter isn't seeing that. You could probably just use a jumper wire to send power to the Bulldog's ignition 1 wire to do programming.

If you go to www.bulldogsecurity.com and look up the wiring diagram for this car then click on the diagrams for ignition delay and acc drop you will see how i hooked it up. I am just wondering if I need to hook up the acc wire from the remote start. I didn't hook it up because all of the acc are working anyway. The ignition wire is connected through the relay. So have you already tried using the jumper wire to send power to the Bulldog's Ignition 1 wire? I haven't installed a Bulldog before, but I'm assuming you have to cycle the key on and off at various times to enter programming, correct? Just get a piece of scrap wire (or connect a spare toggle switch if you prefer) between constant power and the Bulldog's ignition wire. I took a look at that diagram. The way they have you do it, there's no way at all for the main "brain" to "know" that you've switched the key on.

To program another remote you hold the brake down and push button # 1 on the working remote and then button #4 on the new remote. To program run time you just use a working remote without touching anything in the car. I have not tried your idea because I returned the car already, and want to know how to solve this problem when the time comes that the owner wants the other remote to work. If you go back to bulldogs website and look in the manuals under RS1200E it will tell you how to program everything. I will try what you said when I get the car back.Thank you!Thanks, Kim

Ok so tech support finally e-mailed me and said that everything programs through the brake--which I already knew ! So my question is, if the brake wire is hooked up and kills the remote-which it does, is it possible that the car brake wire is not staying positive long enough to program the car?Just a thought.Thanks, Kim

Ah ok, I've only installed one Bulldog in my life, so sorry about being wrong about the programming. Most remote starters want you to cycle the ignition on and off to get into programming, which was why I was worried about that relay setup you had in there.....but in your case it doesn't matter. I know there are several new GM cars (Malibu, for example), where the brake lights don't work with the ignition off. On your Lucerne, do you get brake lights with ignition off? Try turning the key to Accessory or Run, and see if you can do your programming.
