I recently purchased a 1992 accord....it came with a clifford sabre 2 alarm and an ugly burgandy interior......So I switched out the interior with a buddy to get grey
Everything went smoothly during the uninstall.....We didnt touch anything to do with the alarm apart from taking out the led indicator light and a switch by the steering wheel (which from my wiring diagram says is the valet switch).....After we got everything out we started the car up and moved it around a bit.
Then after we put the dash and seats in we tried to start it up again and no luck.....Thought it was the battery so we jumped it.....it would turn over but not start....so now I believe it has to do with the alarm.
I downloaded the sabre 2 wiring diagram from this site (thanks)....and Ive gone over every single wire in the damn car that has to deal with the alarm and nothing seems out of place.....I bought a new switch for the valet switch and wired it up and still no luck.....Though I do still believe my problem lies with this switch as I hooked up the red and white wires to the switch but theres still the black wire that I have no idea where its supposed to connect to.....Ive looked all over for a wire that looks like it needs something connected to it and Ive had no luck finding anything.
We did disconnect the battery to take off the steering wheel as it was equipped with an airbag....so would this have caused any problems with the alarm?....I know we have moved the car after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery so I dont know.
I dont know if this is in any way relative but when I first got the car the alarm did the normal beep beep when i pressed the button on the remote....now it does nothing....So this is why I strongly believe my problem lies with the alarm and not else where.
Im really at a loss of what to do now as I have no idea about alarms of how to work on them.....I really want my car to work as Ive had it over a month and Ive yet to drive it....so any help is greatly appreciated

the not beeping sounds like it is in valet mode. valet mode wont keep it from from starting however. my suggestion is to remove to the knee bolster and steering column shroud if need be and measure the wires at the ignition harness for voltage. you know the start wire has voltage as it tries to start. test the ignition wires for voltage (you can find the vehicle ignition wiring info on this site). and look to make sure that whoever did the install did not do an ignition kill. if so that could be your problem and it will be obvious because you will be able to test voltage on that ignition wire right out of the switch but not after the point where the alarm wires are tied into that wire (if that's the case solder the ignition wire back to normal and heat shrink it). if you are not getting voltage on an ignition wire right out of the switch you have a bad switch. if an ignition kill was not installed and you have power on the ignition wires.......than you have a problem with the car, i.e dead fuel pump, coil etc. and it just happened by coincidence. good luck.

I was told on another forum that if I unplug the main control unit for the alarm and I try and start the car it should turn on
That doesnt seem right ot me....cuz if that were the case wouldnt it be very easy to just bypass alarms making them pointless in the first place.
BUt like i said I know nothing about alarms so Im likely wrong in my thought process

if it were the alarm that is causing the no start situation then yes simply unplugging it should do the trick, unless the immobiliser relays are on board, or the installer has a something like what i do with the vipers with the off board relays, where i use the positive trigger input on the unit and solder that and the ground contacts together inside the control module, and wire a relay normally open circuit style to one of the points either gas, ignition or starter, this way if the brain is removed the car won't be able to start, but besides these cicumstances an alarm is basically pointless once the brain is removed.

Didn't that unit have off board relays with wiring like WHITE/ tan or GREEN/ blue?  If I remember you could use 87a and removing the alarm wouldn't affect starting or 87 and thus join those leads together at the relay and see what happens.  Or lok  for BLACK / YELLOW ignition wire or BLACK/ white starter, they go from the ignition switch to the fusebox, see that they are OK, these are the important  2 to test, also make sure your ignition input has 12volts, engine bay fuses were prone to corrosion and failure back then.

Again thanks for the help guys.....I measured the voltage on the starter wire and the ignition wire....and the starter wire didnt give me 12 volts I got 7.....and same with the ignition when I tried to start it
So Im guessing my problem lies elsewhere......Again thanks for the help.
