starter kill with remote start?

I have a 97 grand am se and im putting in a viper 791xv remote start/alarm. Im curious if i will be able to use a stater kill relay to make sure the car doesnt get stolen .. Is this possible or a shot in the dark?

The starter kill relay will NOT keep the car from being stolen. But that IS the idea!

Yes, you can install one.  You just need to hook the starter output of the remote start unit to the "output" side of the starter kill relay.  Starter kill relays will only slow a thief down, if they want to hot wire your car it won't stop them.

If memory serves me right...i believe that model has the starter kill buit in.  It'll be the green and purple wires coming off the XCRS relay pack from your remote start.  Your starter wire should be yellow(test to be sure)....cut it, then hook the green wire to key side and purple to starter side.  If the unit is armed the starter kill should prevent the vehicle from cranking; once disarmed, it should crank of course.

thanks for all the help. I looked into the install book and you are correct. I am gonna be at an apartment now and the car is pretty rare. Its a 5 speed grand am. You dont come by one of those everyday. Well anyway thanks for all the help. THANKS A BUNCH! I LOVE THIS FORUM!
