Hey everyone,

I'm a regular on many forums so I've done my best to look this up before posting.

I had a Python 1500ESP on my 2003 Honda Civic EX. I was using it for Autostart, a 530T, and a trunk release. When the brain died, I needed a new alarm. I recently picked up a 790vx and found that the harnesses were listed the same via install manuals, however, the 790vx didn't use the yellow ignition wire via the 12 pin H1 harness plug. No worries, I simply cut it and capped the end of the live wire.

Every thing has been hooked up, the shock sensor shows activity, and the alarm allows me to enter programming mode. Only issue is that the alarm refuses to allow me to program a remote to it. I've deleted the previous remotes and done the cycle just as I should have. I do not get a long note indicating the brain is locked. In fact, it seems to operate just as it should, only when I push the button on the remote, the alarm never responds.

Additionally, I used to be able to still use my Honda keyless entry when the Python was hooked up. With the Viper plugged in, the Honda fob doesn't work. It only works again when the Viper H1 plug is removed.

Any thoughts or advice as to what to try next? The brain is from a 790vx and the remote is from a 791, but I figured the only difference was case color. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Ughhh, well at least its not MY car.

How are you programming the remote?
Can you put the alarm in and out of valet mode using the valet button? This tells you if the button, and ignition wire is hooked up correctly.

Door open, ignition on, hold valet button. From there it lets me select any option from the menu (and report back with selection by # of beeps). It just won't receive input from the remote

You should do the following:
Door open, ignition on, hit valet button 8 times, press a 9th time and hold. Siren should do 8 quick chirps. After chirps stop, press lock on remote. Siren chirps. Release valet button, turn ignition off. alarm chirps again. Wait at least 10 seconds. Test remote.

Did that. Battery is good in the remote but the alarm refuses to beep when I press the lock button.
