00 silverado disarm problem

I have a 2000 silverado with a viper 771xv r/s. I hooked up the rearm wire from the 771 to the tan doorpin wire at the bcm and the disarm wire to the light green wire right next to the tan wire. Whenever I disarm the alarm the factory alarm is set off. Can anyone tell me if I hooked into the wrong wire or what is happening?

Did you meter the light green wire? It will meter as +12v at rest, then go to ground (about 0v) when you turn the key to unlock in the drivers door cylinder. If I remember correctly, the disarm wire is in the far right plug at the BCM. Though it has been a few years since I have done a 1998-2002 Silverado.

I checked the wire, it's the right one. However I am still having an issue. In the install instructions for the viper it says to use a relay, even for a negative pulse. Could this be the problem or is it more likely a problem with the viper module?

They say that on almost every wire. Sometimes I think they must own stock in the relay company! No, you don't need a relay, the wire on that truck is low current. If you've already tested the green wire in the truck and it does indeed make a ground every time you turn the key to the unlock position in the outside door key cylinder, The next step would be to disconnect the Viper's disarm wire from the car, connect it straight to only your meter, and verify that it makes a momentary ground when you begin the remote start process.

It's easier just to go to the BCM. It's the LIGHT GREEN wire in the plug farthest to the right on the BCM under the steering column.Jeff

I also tested to see if it grounded when the unlock button is pressed, it does not. Is this the problem? If so how can I fix it or do I need to contact DEI?

If so how can I fix it or do I need to contact DEI?[/QUOTE] Grounds momentarily (for one second) when remote started, or stays a ground the whole time until you shut the remote start off? The wire you want from your Viper makes a one-second pulse with unlock, as well as the same pulse at the beginning of the remote start cycle. It should be GREEN/ black.

It pulses at the beginning of the r/s cycle then returns to 12v. It does not pulse at all on unlock.

I didn't mean to say returns to 12v.
