Hi all, new here. I am not new to the installation of remote starters, but am not a professional. I am attempting an install of a Compustar CM5000 remote/alarm combo. I had everything installed and working except that I was having trouble getting the options changed, to a no tach setting, but believe it successfully changed. The problem is now, the starter does not crank the engine. It works fine with the key, but the RS doesn't actually turn the engine over. I thought it might have been a failure in the RS, but all the wires are live (that are supposed to be during start), and if I attempt to jump the starter in an effort to bypass the starter kill relay, nothing happens. If I pull the relay the key will no longer start it. I thought that it could have been in valet mode, but tried both ways to no avail.
What the heck did I do wrong? It was working fine, and then one time, it no longer would crank. I have all the other options up and working and am really hoping to get this out of my shop.

What are you using to bypass the car's Passkey 3 anti-theft system during remote start?
Will the remote starter work if you leave the key in the ignition?

DEI 555L, but I am not sure that it is correctly installed. It was there for another RS.
I haven't tried starting it with the RS while key is in, but I did try to start it with: key in ign and on, and adding 12v to the starter wire from the car. This did nothing. I also tried to jump around the starter kill relay while RS'ing it. None of these worked.

put the key in th ignition if the remote start works then you need to find another way around the factory alarm. if it doesnt work then you need to let us know what else is going on.   How  did you program the resistance for the 555l? some cars are different than others...

Not really sure how you could have installed the 555L, because that car doesn't even have Passlock, and therefore has none of the corresponding wires.
The car has the Passkey 3 tranponder system.
DEI 556U or similiar with a spare key in inside. Or 556U with an aftermarket key bought online.
There are also a few databus modules that can interface with the car's PK3, although they seem to always cost more than just putting an aftermarket key into a universal bypass box.

The DEI 555L was installed for a previous RS, and I simply re-used it. Unfortunately I removed it before properly tracing its installation. I am not sure if I re-installed it correctly, and as well, I had the car starting and running with the RS. I was having trouble getting tach signal, so I changed the settings on the RS to use a timed crank (the car has it's own touch start), and then it cranked once or twice more but wouldn't stay running. I then double checked the wires for the 555L, changed nothing, and for whatever reason, it wouldn't crank at all. The RS adds power to all the start wires, but the car does not turn over. Even if I place the key in it, it won't crank using just the RS. It's like the Starter cut relay isn't working properly (I changed relays to make sure it was). I don't know what's happening, but my brother in law wants his car back on Wednesday, so I am running out of time.

Great point...What are the wire colors and location from 555l to the car...Maybe the car has no bypass...If you are looking at the key...Where the metal meets the black plastic...do you see a PK3...

Hmmmm...Do you have  another r/s sitting around...Try that one and see...have you swapped out the brain yet...? But if it is not starting w/ key in ignition...Got to be a program issue or a install issue...i would just take the bypass and starter kill off...re-wire and see if you can get the r/s to respond...

I was able to get the engine to crank, one of the wires on the DEI 555L was broken, once reconnected it cranked and fired. Only ran for a second or two then died. Obviously I need a different interface/bypass. Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.
