hey,

i'm having a problem w/ my viper 5000 in my 94 civic .. it has worked fine for quiet a while then the battery died in my trasnmitter .. well not completely but getting low ... then the other day the alarm didn't chirp when i armed it . i figured the battery finally called it quits. so i changed the battery. the problem i'm having is no chirp and no arming from the alarm. do i need to do a relearn after changing the battery?? the led jus stays on instead of blinking when armed nd off when unarmed?

i have read the troobleshooting in the online manual u ppl found me b4. and i don't see anything that would help me . sorry for the long post appreciate the help guys

here's what he did, once the alarm is fully fuctional and the brain is unlocked, open a door, turn the ignition on, and tap the valet button twice holding on the second press when you hear the chirp press the lock on the remote you should hear a long chirp, that indicates success

Silly question, I have a 5500 on a jeep (doors come off) and the door alarm sensors are not installed. Is there a way to reset it or do I have to hook a door alarm up?

I too had a battery die and now the remote is not arming or disarming the alarm at all, I can switch into valet to get the alarm to stop.

Any suggestions?

If you can access the alarm you could shunt the pins that you would normally use if you had the door alarm circuits wired and essentially do what he did.

Do you still have all the wires in that harness that came with it wrapped up or were they chopped off?

To relearn you do not have to connect the door triggers, but, the green wire must be "seeing" ground to enter programming!
