I have installed an Ultra Start W4501 into my 2008 Ford Super Duty Diesel. Everything alarm works fine but it will not auto start because it cannot tach learn. I know it is getting a tach signal as the LED's and park lights are lit up solid and when I disconnect the tach wire, they go out. I have also put my meter on the tach wire and seen frequency! My ignition wire is good as I have metered it and it is 12v  in run, ignition. I have also run a jumper from the blue to red wire of the 6-pin to ensure 12v at crank! I am using a Ford PATS by-pass module (7L2Z-19G365-AA). I am using my white wire of the 6-pin as a second ignition and hense put the jumper on that setting. I have tried all three settings and it made no difference! I have done countless system resets and even disconnected the brain and shorted out the 12v to ground to bleed off any capacitance! Still no luck! Please help! I am beginning to think I might have a bad brain! Let me say I'm not too fond of Ultra Start right now! One big head ache!

Switch ignition 1 and ignition 2 ...I remember on windstars and some other fords...I had to flip-flop Ign 1 and Ign 2 off of r/s...It does not start w/ tach-less...?

Sorry, I've had the module sent out to be replaced as that is what the tech at Ultra Crap told me to do! I have installed the new one and still no tach learn! I tried switching IGN1 and IGN2 but still had no luck! Anyone else had any experience with these things? Is there a wire I've connected wrong that is causing the unit to lock out? Or is there a crazy stupid initialization sequence or learn sequence that I've not done? I'm at my wits end with this thing! This is the worse product I've ever worked with! Please help!

Ill try to be a little more specific...I have installed alot of ultra starts...Sorry...never that model...But we always had a problem w/ fords and ultra starts...Normally it was the ign 1 wire in vehicle would have residual/backfeeding voltage...Sometimes around 1 volt...And the r/s would see ign 1 as having power, and would not remote start...Usually by flip/flopping the ign1/ign2 cured the problem...Maybe check this on your 08 ford(meaning you might have to go deeper then flip/flop of ignitions)...As far as tach learn...On the older systems...It was like key on/off...press valet...start car(something like that)...What does it say in the manual for tach learn...? And are you able to get in tachless mode...? I do recall that even w/ the wrong wire hooked up to tach on r/s...The led's would still light up...They just would never go out/tach learn...! BTW...It is not responding at all when pressing r/s feature...right...?

Thanks for your help. This particular model will not work tachless unfortunately! This should link you to my manual I hope!http://www.ultrastarters.com/manuals_download_pdf/English/MAN-45XX-INSTALL-U.pdf

I can't see much for a tach learn sequence! The manual is very poorly done! In my opinion they don't want the average joe installing!
