I believe those years use a 10 cut key but the doorlock cylinders are not built with a complete set of wafers. There are also a limited number of depths of cut, so the maximum number of combinations are 625 but there a catch. GM has a few rules and once applied it reduces the total number of combinations to less than 500, if I do my calculations right. With the vast number of GM vehicles on the road it is not surprising that this can be done. The good news is that the ignition cylinders uses a full set so this method would not likely work to start the vehicle.

took a look at the numbers again and the number of combination for the door are actually 259. so it is even fewer than i originally calculated. :(
