I am looking for a little help troubleshooting a Compustar 2w900fms. The unit is installed in a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 6cyl manual trans. The unit operated flawlessly at the begining of last winter. As time went on, the unit would intermittingly respond or not respond to the remotes both 1 way or 2 way. It seemed the not work when the temperatures were low. Even when the vehicle wouldn't respond to the remote commands, when a vehicle door was opened, the two way would recieve an alert that the door had been opened. The reservation mode would still function as it should and the 2 way would recieve confirmation of that when the door was closed. As the whether warmed, the remote worked more consistently. Once the summer weather arrived, the vehicle stopped responding all together. Now that winter is approaching I would like to again have it working. Both remotes have new batteries and show that they are sending signals but the vehicle doesn't respond. I tend to lean towards the antenna being faulty but I am not sure. Have anyone seen this before?

Was it purchased and installed by an authorized dealer? If so, Compustar has great tech support. I would contact the authorized dealer and they should be able to help you.

The only problem with bringing it to the installer is that I bought the vehicle with the RS unit in it. I am not sure of who actually installed it or if the warranty transfers.

Check out Compustar's website and look for an authorized dealer around you. I'd have them check the system out and see what's going on. They will probably charge you for their time, but should be able to diagnose the problem. Good luck!
