I have a 1998 GMC 1500 with a 6.5 diesel and it currently has a 290i command start installed in it that I can't get to get to work. I bought the truck with it in and it wasn't working when I bought the truck and I would like to see if I can get it working. So if anyone has any experience with these I would appreciate some advise on this system and how it work or any trouble shooting tips would be great.

Thanks

i am an idiot

What exactly is the unit doing or not doing?  Does it turn over but not crank?  Does it not even turn over?  Give us a clue.

It does nothing when the remote buttons are pressed. on light come on no clicking sounds or  anything. When you press button 2 on the remote the remote beeps but nothing else happens on the truck. I was checking the hood pin for corrosion and it sounded like the seat belt buzzer was buzzing but I could tell for sure because when I tried to get from the front of the truck to the cab it would quit (i was by myself) I found the brain box under the dash and connection are all good there but I don't see any fuses. The valet switch is also in the on position and there is another box with some dip switches I assume these are for setting and controlling the features of the remote starter. I replaced the battery in the key fob and I only have one fob for it. I also don't know if there is a sequence that the buttons need to be pressed in order to activate the glow plugs.

Thanks for the reply
