I have a 1996 Suzuki Esteem and my stereo is cutting in and out and the stereo system is a Sony CDX – GT420U. If you have any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

If it dumps completely check your powers and ground, if you lose sound you may have a speaker terminal or lead shorting out. Your question is too vague to answer simply, I need to know when it cuts out, e.g. over bumps and what exactly happens.

Mr. I. knows this one better than me but either a poor head unit amp or you need to go to the battery with a thicker fused power supply to your yellow constant cable or a thicker ground cable to a chasis bolt.

Your radio is not getting enough power.  It could be not getting enough power to the yellow wire of the radio, or it could be a bad ground.  Your will really need a volt meter to figure out which of the 2 is your problem.
