Hi,

I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado with XK06 PLXR 3.0 and Hornet 570 remote start. I have the remote start working!!  But if i do not unlock the doors first with the factory remote, i get a few quick beeps of the horn during remote cranking. Then i get a few quick beeps of the horn when i unlock the doors with factory remote after engine is warmed up from remote start. How do i stop the quick beeps? Please advise.

IS it possible the Hornet 570 can disarm the factory alarm with its FAD output??

This is unusual - I've never heard of it before on a GM product. '99-'04 Grand Cherokees would let out a long honk with remote start if alarm wasn't disarmed, but that's obviously unrelated.
Obviously, the factory alarm is briefly triggering in this case. The question is why, since it's supposed to disarm when it sees the correct Passlock resistance value as well as power on the ignition wire.
Which wires on the Hornet are connected to the ignition harness, and which ones go to the XK06?

It's normal for these trucks to do this. It does disarm when it sees the correct passlock value but it doesn't get that value until crank. Most of the time it's beep, beep, beep, start. Iv'e never had a customer complain about this but if I ever did I thought about maybe finding the horn wire under the hood and cutting it with a relay using ground while running.

Thats exactly it! I get the Beep,Beep,Beep before it sees the correct passkey!

I live in a quiet neighborhood, and i don't need this every morning. So, i am complaining 04 colorado, xk06 bypass, remote start -- posted image....oh, and the Colorado has a very weak range on the factory keyfob. Horribly weak, even with new batteries. That is a whole 'nother topic.

Please explain a little further about using a relay at the horn. Are you suggesting that i can use the same "ground while running" from the Hornet remote start-to-XK06 bypass, and that signal will come slightly delayed after the passkey activations (just after the beeps) ?

Before you try anything further, 2 simple suggestions.
1. Verify that you've used the "status" output from the Hornet and not the "ignition 3" to activate the XK06's GWR input.
2. If that's been done, try connecting the factory disarm onto the status output/ground-when-running circuit. This might get the XK06 active just a bit before the ignition powers up, and avoid the horn honking.

The Hornet "200mA Status" is connected to the XK06 Ground While Running.

I will try the Factory Alarm Disarm from the Hornet connected in parallel onto the GWR output.

I had the same problem on a Colorado, I switched bypasses to one of these Idatalink that does factory arm/disarm. They also do passlock. The only thing is the module does disarm by unlocking the drivers door, but after it remote starts it locks it again. My customer didn't want the horn blasting, so he didn't mind the unlocking/Locking. Actually when he saw how quickly it locked back up he said "thats quick"

Adding the relay should be simple. You will have to fork the gwr from the hornet with two diodes (stripe facing the brain). One will go to the xk06, the other one will go out under the hood to a relay pin 86. Pin 85 will go to a fused 12v. Then you will the normally closed contacts 87a and 30 to interrupt the horn wire at the horn. A byproduct of this will be that the horn wont work under remote start.
