I am installing a Compustar remote start into a 2010 Subaru Outback with a manual transmission.  The issue I am having revolves around the electronic parking brake system.  The auto start needs to see a ground to the emergency brake wire before it will auto start.  There is a wire that reads ground when the parking brake is engaged, and then reads 12v when disengaged.  However, 30 seconds after the vehicle is shut down and the doors are closed, that same wire will revert back to 12v, resulting in the auto start not working.  Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

The engine management should have a pin out which goes to ground only when gear shift is in neutral, with ignition on or off. If it's there use it instead of parking brake. It should be listed as neutral safety switch.

Possibly you could use a status output to control a relay that would always ground the parking brake wire when the car is shut off.  You would have to control the relay both with the status output (so whenever the status output turns on the relay switches the wiring back to normal) but also control it off the stock ignition wire so that whenever the key is in the "ON" position the wiring will be back to normal.

This would cause the parking brake wire to always read ground when the car is off and as soon as the vehicle is either started by the key or remote started the parking brake wire will go back to "normal" and therefore shut the vehicle off if the brake isn't actually active.  This assumes the system will shut off if the parking brake drops out right at start up.
