Vehicle: 2004 GMC ENVOY

I have a Python 881xp installed a few years ago at my local circuit city by a very good istaller. Everything was working perfectly until I broke the origianl remote for the system. So I purchased a replacement online and went about programming it to the system via the valet button. All I got programed on the remote was the LOCK button though which worked to lock andunlock the car and that was it. The rest of the buttons wouldnt work at all....remote start, unlock button, etc. I continued to try programming it and now nothing on the remote works. Now whe attepting to acess the prompts via the valet button i'm not recieving any of the chirps which tell me what prompts I have entered. Any ideas on how to program the remote? Why would the system not be responding to the valet button accordingly with the chirps? I also own the 998T Bitwriter but that dosent seem to provide any easy method to program the remote

Take your bitwriter and read from the brain! Store the info in a file and then zap the brain! re-program the remote to default mode and see what happens!

Is your green door trigger wire "seeing" ground? Is your valet switch working properly? Is your siren still functional! Is your igniton wire connected? Is your ribbon properly plugged in to the brain of the alarm?

Siren is stil functional because when zapping the system it sounds a chirp. Ribbon is properly plugged in. Have to check on the green door trigger, and ignition wire. Valet switch seems to be fine, i recieve a response from the led but only for a second and it shuts off.

Now able to acess the prompts via the valet button, but cant seem to get the new remote programmed. Nor is it letting me erase all remotes programmed to the system. Would probably help if i was more familiar with car security installs but I feel like I know enough to get it taken care of. Hard since my install guy worked at circuit city and best buy wants a 100 dollars to take care of it since the remote wasnt purchased from them which is bs but whatever.

$100 to program a remote? That's ricoculous! I understand they have a right to charge you something as it isn't their install, but......wow!
Anyway, if you were already able to program that lock/unlock button, then you're already doing well.......this means your valet switch is good, the alarm's green door trigger wire is connected, and you've managed to at least get into program mode correctly.
It's been a while since I've installed or programmed a DEI system, but it goes like this:
1. You get into programming. (Seems like you've already managed to do that.)
2. There are variouis "channels" that can be proogrammed individually. There are no "rules," you could, if you wanted, make the trunk button lock the doors.....make the lock button start the engine....and so forth. Not saying you want to, just that you can.
Those separate "channels" would be arm/disarm (together on one button like you found by accident), arm, disarm, trunk, start, and your various auxuilary channels.
There's also another "channel" that simply programs the entire remote to the factory default.........lock=lock, start=start, and so forth.
3. So anyway, you need to find out which channel is which. Without that, you'll be there all day by trial and error.
You could program each of the individual buttons one at a time...... program the lock button to the lock channel.......unlock button to the unlock channel, and so forth.
But your best bet would be to find the "factory default" channel and just program to that.
4. On the more basic DEI systems, "channel 1" is the factory default channel, but I think on the 2-way systems it's not.
From your description, sounds like you're getting into programming just fine, but you're only programming Channel 1, which in this case is lock/unlock together.
5.
IN SUMMARY:
I think, if I remember right, that Channel 7 does the factory default.....but I'm not sure.
Try programming to Channel 7. If it works, great. If it doesn't work, don't blame me lol, and try to find an install guide for your system.
Anyway, try this:
1. Open door.
2. Ignition on.
3. Press and release valet button 7 times.
4. Press and HOLD valet button.
5. Press Lock button on remote.
6. Turn ignition off.
Try remote and see if it works properly.

No luck, cant get this remote to program for the life of me. It says if you prgram any button to channel 12 it erases all remotes in memory, but it refuses to let me get passed channel 11. Zapped the system numerous times ad still no luck. I think ive given up
