It seems Idata has revamped the software for Toyota in some of the units they sell. They claim the new flash will allow the factory remotes to still work even during Remote start. They claim even smartkey features will work on select Toyota's. I'm gonna try this ASAP, has anyone else done this? Does it work?

Everything they say is true. I've used this firmware in a bunch of Toyota's and Lexus's without any issues. My only minor complaint is on the smart key cars the cars have to be shut off and restarted in order to be driven. This is a very small issue when you consider the time savings on installation and the ability to install a remote start in 80 bit Lexus models without taking a smart key.

All claims are accurate when using the TL1 and TL2. As far as the Smart Key beegbie, have you tried pressing the starter button twice after you entered the vehicle with the Smart Key to take over the vehicle ?

Pressing the button twice wont work. When using the tl1,2,or 3 firmware these cars shuts off with door trigger through data. I haven't tried hardwiring and leaving the door trigger off in fear that it will leave the car susceptible to being stolen.

So, cars without smartkey(a standard chip key) you can RS and the factory remote will still unlock the doors?

Yep. No matter how many times I do It I am still amazed when they work. Another cool feature is that you get the Toyota "beeps" when locking and unlocking with an aftermarket remote.

Even on smartkey cars the remote will continue to work while the car is running under remote start.
