car remote starts but won't start w key

hey guys i really need help finding why i CAN remote start my car but when i try to use the key to start it, it starts than it just shuts off right after.   i have a 2009 toyota tacoma. alarm system viper 5701 and a xpresskit PKALL bypass module. it was working before but when i tried to clean the wires up so it wont be hanging it just went down hill from there. thank you

Is the bypass grounded to the chassis, or to he GWR wire of the remote start unit?   If you place the key in the ignition switch, without turning it on, will it still remote start?

Or the vehicle ignition switch is faulty, or the nearest ignition loom connector plug is loose or or a wire is lose. TEST. Also does it actually fire up then die immediately or does it not quite fire up?

Here is my shot in the dark. Since you said you were organizing wires, I'm betting there is a good chance you pulled one of the vehicles anti theft wires loose. Check where your immobilizer splices into the trucks anti theft wires. If you pulled apart the transmit and/or receive wires then it is possible your truck is only getting a valid signal from the immobilizer and not from the ignition key. Just a guess, but worth checking.

thanks for all your help guys. but found the problem, checked the ignition wire with a test light and it had no power. so i check the fuse in the engine bay and finally found the problem... that really sucked spent 10hrs tryn to find the problem and only problem was a freaken fuse.. thanks again guys..

Tip for another day. ---> throw your test light in the trash Then buy a DMM. Would have saved you 10 hours possibly.

And your point being Yimke? If he'd have done as I first suggest6ed in capital letters, i.e. test it wouldn't have mattered, either a test light or a meter would have worked equally well. &Unfortunately the first rule was broken, i.e. check the fuses.

OK you two I know we were all a bit tongue in cheek there but, yes I deployed the air bag light on a VW transporter once BUT I disconnected the instrument panel then turned on the ignition to test the park brake warning light feed. The trick was NOT to turn on the effing ignition! In the hands of someone with my million years experience I normally know when NOT to use it. With novices you should start them off with DMMs and not even mention test lights but then I'm old school I can programme a Cliff or Vip faster manually than someone else using a Wiz or Bitwriter. Suppose you'l accuse me of despoiling virgins next....I wished.
