installed a thor auto start, starts ok but wants to keep trying to restart every 5 seconds or so,do I need to install the light flash and siren? Just wanted door locks and auto start. This unit was for Buick does it need to be programed for 1996 chevy?the yellow an black sence start wire is connected to white wire at coil, also connected it at tach connection at ecm no luck. The directions state's look for negative wire with 3-4 volts with ign.on.(this is were I got lost). I'm getting 11.5 volts off coil or tach, 14.5 running.Don't know were you would get 3-4 volts with key on?

If you system is trying to restart then it doesn't have a good tach reference.  The 3-4 volt reading varies widely from car to car and even from meter to meter because you are actually reading a pulse width, not an actual voltage (a 12vdc square wave).

If the wire you have the tach wire connected to reads 14vdc with the car running then it is NOT the correct tach wire.   The "best" way I have found to find tach wires is to buy a meter that reads frequency - they have them at Sears for around $25.

And make sure you've set your DMM to AC. Where are you picking up the tach signal? One wire at the coil should read 12volt DC (ign or + side) it's the other side you want.

It's starts and starter disengages,so I would think it is getting a tach signal , then after 5 seconds trys to start again, going to eat my ring gear.

It sounds like a tach issue to me.

its not really a  tach issue. its just the unit. these units use a oil pressure sensor light to prevent cranking again. can you scan a pic of the diagram? i had my fun installing these Engrish written manuals, nothing makes sense whatsoever. Im sure on your diagram theres going to be a wire going to acylinder that says high voltage, if thats the case, just connect that wire to a 12v source and it wont crank again.

I new I was in trouble when the directions said  (fundus) . So this unit does not need a tach signal? The directions are telling me to look for low voltage  at the negative wire with key on 3-4 volts, then start the machine to see if It changes to 12 volts. So you are telling me to connect this wire to 12 volts? I'll give it a shot.

well you can give it a shot and see. the thing is, if it says a negative 3-4vdc off and 12v when on, i dont guarentee that hookin it up to a positive 12v source would do. An oil pressure sensor light does however work in that manner that you manual says. Its about 6vdc ground when the light is active, when the light goes off, it switches to positive 12vdc +.

i hope this helps.

First I would like to thank you for trying to help me: The direction states, thin yellow/black wire,It'sense wire for sucess of starting. How to find it out? It's in the orfice for wires' output of cars electric machine which is in the engine room.First place the transmission gear in the Neutral position, and turn Ignition Key to "ON". Second, check out the negative wire(3-4v output),and start the car then check to see If this wire will turn to the output to 12VDC.It's right please connect it to the thin Yellow/Black Wire. The sad part for me is I just retired from a Ford garage after 50 years, working on problems all my life. It's the language in the directions.I still don't know were I could get 3-4 volts with key on,and get 12 volts with engine running?

It's on a 1996 chevy C/K 1500 three wire coil I though the solid white wire was the tach wire
