I am having trouble getting my remote start to lock and unlock the doors.

I connected it as per the fortin web site which shows a diagram using relays.  The strange thing is that on the lock side of the relay it connects into both the lock and unlock wires of the vehicle. It shows the same thing for the unlock relay,  Diodes are used on both lock and unlock legs.  Why would it be pulsing both lock and unlock wires at the same time?

The following are the wires I used

Power Unlock          Red         (-)          MODULE BEHIND GLOVEBOX

PowerLock          WHITE/ BLACK          (-)          MODULE BEHIND GLOVEBOX

if this is a 3 series, i have blue/red for lock and WHITE/ black for unlock both are negative trigger and shouldn't require relays

these wires are located either behind the glovebox or in drivers kickpanel

Same as 3 Series. Look to the wiring loom coming into the vehicle from the driver's door. Fortin and DEI have the wrong info. Its WHITE/ black to lock, extend pulse to close windows/roof, blue/red to unlock. Both low current NEG. Apart from Toyotas, this is one of the easiest cars in the world to do an alarm and R/S

I am not having any luck with these wires.
I am using the Blue/Red for unlock connected behind the glove box (White Module - Pin 22) and WHITE/ Black for Lock (Pin 20).
I am using the P3 connector from AstroStart 5224 as follows;
#1 Brown for Lock (30)
#2 WHITE/ Brown - Not Used (87a)
#3 BROWN / White - Ground (87)
#4 Blue for Unlock (30)
#5 WHITE/ Blue - Not Used (87a)
#6 Blue/White - Ground (87)
Are these wires behind glove box the same wires as one in wiring loom coming into the vehicle from the driver's door? Also what does low current NEG mean?

The BROWN / white should also be grounded. Yes to the driver's door, it's easier to pick up virtually everything there, tach door triggers etc.. Low current simply means that the lock/unlock trigger wires are negative going and require a low current about 140 milliamps to drive them,

I am not sure what you mean by "BROWN / white should also be grounded"

I have #3 BROWN / White - Ground (87) - I have connected this to ground as well as #6 Blue/White - Ground (87)

Where do I find a horn wire?

Thanks!

I'm sorry. I thought you had the BROWN / white unused on your post.
Horn wire is a PURPLE / blue +, either at steering column wiring or a green relay above comfort module.
Are you using a by-pass with a key in it?
And if so is this key a regular key with the remote locking buttons on it?
Now you know why I keep saying "use the grey valet key".
Also it wont lock with the regular key in the ignition. Your open door must be latched" over to test the locks.

I am using a regular key with locking buttons on it,  wire wrapped and connected to a relay.  The valet key that came with vehicle is not programed for this vehicle,  It does not turn locks or ignition and before installing a key bypass, the remote starter would work with a regular key in ignition but it wouldnt work with valet key placed in ignition.  I do not have a valet key for this vehicle.  Is there a different signal sent from a valet key compared to a main combo key.

I have tried locks with doors closed and no key in ignition.

Should I move my lock and unlock wires to the same colored wired at ignition harness or is the valet key the answer.

Thank you for all the advice!

This is starting to get repetitive so one more time!
Programme the Valet switch and use it!
On E46 type and onwards the key with the buttons is still "talking" (as I once found out even with its battery removed) one of the things it's saying is "the ignition key is still in the ignition, don't lock me!"
Make sure the car's ACC, violet(or purple) is connected to the r/s 2nd ignition output or it still won't start.
Ignore the same coloured wires at the ignition harness, they might have completely different function, = $$$ problems!
