I have an issue with my viper 5901 2 way remote.

When i hit the button on my remote to lock or unlock the doors there is a long delay. Sometimes the remote comes back with a beep that states couldnt find vehicle when im standing right in front of it or after the third try it will work. The work around is to start the truck wait a minute turn it off and then the remote starts to work fine.  This is random but what a pain.  I once couldnt get in the truck. I had to open with the key and use the bypass feature to shut the alarm off and start the truck.  What can this be???? The battery is fully charged on the remote. The funny thing is the remote start has no delays and works great.  Its just the lock and unlock.

Thanks in advance for the help.

my friend has the same unit, and his does the same thing. it just seems to be there was a bad batch of 5901s floating around. His lock/unlock works when it wants to, and he can start it whenever with no delays. contact dei and ask what they have to say, also see any service bulletins.

Was it professionally installed? If so then the shop that installed it should be able to fix the problem for you. They should offer a lifetime warranty on installation and the alarm system.

I installed it myself and it wasnt the first one i have done. Worked as an installer for a few years before i finished school and proceeded in my career.

I actually just got a call back from my friend who i use to work with installing them. He stayed in the business.I havent spoken to him in a few years but as a good friend was there to help out. He gave me his information so i could call DEI and troubleshoot it.

DEI stated to reprogram the remote, replace the antenna or just see if the antenna has a crimp in the wire.  I'm going to do what he stated and see how it turns out.  Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks
