mars 22 remote starter, 2004 endeavor

Subject line got cut off! This is a question about Mars 22 remote starter and Mitsubishi Endeavor 2004. I had an old starter laying around and wanted to put it my Endeavor. I purchased the IB-UMIT bypass and installed it this past weekend. The starter is turning but not turning over. I wrapped the loop antenna 3-4 times around the ignition coil with and without the key in the ignition and nothing happens. Since its turning I am assuming it has to do with the bypass. I would appreciate any help if possible. Thank you in advance. HowardHoward

are you able to program this piece on your own , or is it dealer scan tool only? most mitsubishi's require the dealer to program the bypass..

Considering it is only a small board with two plugs, it might be a dealer program only. Is there away around it, or another option. Howard

This came out of an old Ford Exporer, which had a similar looking bypass, but that one seemed to have more of a circuit board and a dial/knob on it as well.Howard

read the endevavor manual it will tell you if you can program keys on your own

Are we talking about the bypass or the keys, I have a key, and I know I probably will need a second key which I may have. If not then I will look into getting another one. Does the bypass need to be programed? If so, does it have to be done at a car starter dealer? In the instructions to see even if the bypass works it says to place a key in the ignition and try to remote start it. I have tried that, but it does not turn over. Howard

If the Mitsubishi bypass you bought has a ring or wire loop that goes around the key cylinder, it should also come with programming instructions and NOT require a scan tool. Note that it will require two keys for programming. If you only have one key, it's off to a locksmith or dealer to get another key first. Regardless of all that, the first step you should be doing is to have your existing good key in the ignition switch, in the Off position, with the bypass module unplugged. If it remote starts that way, go get your second key and program your bypass. If it does not remote start with a good key in the ignition, you'll have to troubleshoot your install. Many remote starts have a diagnostics mode where they'll show the cause for remote start failure (tach, brake, hood, neutra safety, etc.).

Great Thanks, that helps. I don't think I tried to remote start the car with the bypass unplugged. I tried to start it with the key in the off and other positions with the bypass still plugged in. So there is hope that it is still the bypass module. I also did a rough install just to see if it still works, meaning I did not install the parking lights, horn or the other "recommended features" Also I did not have a toggle pin for the hood safety feature, but I left that circuit open, which to my knowledge is the same as the toggle pin being depressed. I will try some of those suggestions and take a look at the trouble shoot section. Thanks for your help. Howard

Also yes the bypass did come with a programing instructions but I could not get pass the initial test of it remote starting with the key in the ignition.Howard

I was able to start the car with the Key in the on position via the remote starter. So I know the remote starter works, now I have to work on the by pass. Does anyone know how to program the keys for a 2004 Endeavor? Thanks, Howard
