remote start rs 1200e, shuts down 10 sec.

2001 Dodge Ram 1500. does not have security, does not have factory remote door locks. followed all directions to a tee. Installed as tach less. Man am i stumped. Starts fine, runs a little then shuts off, waits a little and self re-starts, waits a little and shuts off..... Help please !

I believe the Bulldog units look at IGN1 for the voltage rise after start in Tachless Mode.  Check to make sure that your connection from the R/S IGN1 (heavy White wire) has a good connection to the trucks IGN1 wire (Dark Blue).   The individual wire connections (IGN, Battery, etc) at the R/S have been known to get loose during positioning.  You can add some crimp to them prior to insertion.

If you are still having problems... I would try switching to Tach Mode.  The Tach signal should be easy to find, BLACK/ Gray wire at Coil. Follow the instructions for switching to Tach Mode.

Tach Mode - ON

Press and hold the brake pedal. Press and hold Button #3 until the parking lights flash three (3) times. Release. Press and release Button #4, the parking lights will flash twice. Release the brake, the parking lights will flash three (3) times. The unit is now programmed for Tach Mode. NOTE: Factory setting is Tachless Start ON.

Next do the Tach Learn

Tach Learn

To program your unit to Learn your tach signal. Press and hold the brake pedal, now press and hold Button #2 until the parking lights flash twice. Release Button #2. Turn your ignition key to the RUN or ON position while still holding the brake, press and hold Button #4 until the vehicle starts. After the engine starts, release Button #4 to disengage the starter. Release the brake and turn the ignition OFF. After the Tach Learn is complete, the unit will flash the parking lights once to show that the Tach Learn is now programmed. Now try the remote starter, to be sure there is no over crank and the unit does crank long enough.

Possible problems are: Bad connections,  bad alternator,  incorrect wiring, bad R/S unit.

One more thing.... Make very sure you have a good Gound connection.Soldering is fun!

ok, ran the wire for the tachless. same thing. tried resetting the unit. and setting in tach mode. same thing. starts then shuts down after 5-10 seconds, and then restarts.

Hello all. Contacted the manufacturer through their service e-mail www.bulldogsecurity.com. they suggested to connect the BLACK/ white stripe wire (from the 16 pin connector) to the Heavy guage white Ignition 1 wire. then clear program to factory, change to tach setting, run tach learn. It worked. All it does is send the tach wire a constant signal.....but in my case that solved the problem. Hope this helps someone.
