Hi,
Im hoping that one of you brainiacs can help me, I have installed a Prostart ct-5072 in my 2002 cavalier manual transmision. The problem i'm having is that when i set the car to ready mode to beable to remote start it stops working after you have opened the door.
1.I press the brake pedal with the handbreak off
2.then start the car
3. put the handbreak on and let go of the brake pedal and hold lock, unlock or start.
4. then turn the car off ( it stays running as it should)
5. get out of the car and close the door and press either lock, unlock or start and it turns off as it should.
then i press start and it starts up fine and continues to run with no issues then i get into the car and either press the brake or put it into run and press the brake and its fine, but the problem is once i turn it off it will never remote start again all that happens is the lights flash once and nothing happens. ???
Does anyone have any idea whats going wrong here?
Thanks in advance! :)

if I understand you correctly, you have set ready mode, come out to remote start it, it starts, you get in car and turn ignition on and press brake, at this point everything is fine, you turn the car off open the door and then shut it, then you try and remote start it again and it doesn't start?

is this right?

The issue is you need to set ready mode each and everytime you are getting out of the car to be able to remote start the car in the future

Yes that is correct. its as if when you open the door after a remote start the module takes its self out of ready mode and needs setting again.
Any idea why its doing this?

read the bottom of my last post

you need to set ready mode each and everytime you want to remote start the car, that is the way it is, it is for safety

Yes it is because it is a manual transmission.  When you put the remote start in ready mode the unit thinks that you are outside of your car with the doors closed and the engine running.  Then you lock the car and it assumes that nobody is in the car.  This is the only state that the remote start should be ready.  If a door is opened, or the brake pedal pressed, or the handbrake taken off the remote start leaves the ready state.

Imagine if you set up the remote start and leave the car.  Then someone opens the door and puts the car in gear.  If the remote start didn't leave the ready state the car would move when you remote start it possibly causing damage or injury or worse.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Berg

I was thinking about it just from what you guys have said and it totally makes sense now! its actually a pretty clever setting to stop you from remote starting in gear, i didn't like it at first but now i think its a good thing and its not hard to set when you stop because ur already running so can set it by pressing nothing more than the remote button in addition to the usual routine of getting out of your car.
Thanks guys for bringing that to my attention :) most appreciated!
lol at least i know i did connect everything up correctly. :)

Yep, that is one of the the annoying things about putting a remote start on a manual transmission vehicle. I put one on my old truck, and I constantly forgot to grab things when I would get out. In the middle of winter, it's not fun to hop back into a cold vehicle and put the remote start  back into reservation mode, because you forgot to grab your phone. Eventually I learned to grab EVERYTHING I would need before I would get out, or if was within reach I would use my window mod to roll down the window to grab what I needed.
