What is the make and model of the system you are installing? The wire you are talking about is probably a low current negative output, not an input and as such probably not needed in your application.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

If it says the wire goes to negative that usually means ground. In which case you would attach it to a clean bare metal part of car chasis. Your question is kinda vague so cant say for sure.

neg when running is more than likely an output for a transonder key interface or a third ign wire, which you shouldnt need but without knowing more about what your trying to install its hard for us to help

i did find out that the neg. when running is an output for a transponder key interface. thank you guys, sorry for being so vague but that is all the instructions said it was. the system is an xtreme xr-22 remote start with keyless entry. it does work now, i just have to try and figure out how to wire in the running/parking lights.
