Before I start the install on a 2002 gmc sierra I'd like to clarify a few things, i'm using the fortin passlock sl-2 for a bypass module. I've read and heard mixed reviews about using the data-link harness between the remote start and bypass module. Some people say to use it others suggest not to re compatibility issues. How are these normally installed and wired? Also for the door locks, since they are a (+) trigger,is using the outputs from the remote start with a relay to reverse polarity the way this is normally done. I'd like the remote start remote start to function as the factory keyless entry remote does.
Thanks in Advance

The Ultra Start 1272 only outputs (-) for lock / unlock.  You will have to change the polarity for your trucks positive locks.  You will need 2 relays fused at 10 amps.  Here is a basic diagram:  https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#3wp

As for the data harness to the Fortin, I would cut it and just connect the red wire to 12 volts.  One less thing to worry about.

I recently did a 2003 Silverado.  Fairly easy.  The ignition & passlock wires are in the steering column and most of the rest are in the BCM, just below the steering column.

Soldering is fun!
