I am a DIY'er preparing to install a Viper 5101 remote start in my 2002 Acura TL Type-S and I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me.

What is the default firmware that comes loaded on the Xpresskit XK05?  I purchased it off of eBay and I failed to ensure that they ship me one with the correct firmware load before shipment.  I'm hoping to avoid having to ship it back to get it loaded (they offered to flash it for free though).  The company I purchased it from couldn't confirm the firmware version that ships by default.

Also, in the event that it is not loaded with the firmware I need by default, what do you think my chances are of going to a local install shop and having them flash it for free?

The XK05 usually comes in a plactic bag with a Install guide of the type of firmware loaded on the module.  Also the XK05 module has a red label on it with the different types of firmware it can support and beside them is a box.  The filled in box is the firmware type that WAS originally loaded.  It could be re-flashed to something else if you got it from EBay......

You want the PKH2 firmware for you Acura.

You could try your local Best Buy.  It only takes a minute but be sure to tip...

Soldering is fun!
