Just installed a 5701 in a 1996 nissan altima. The 1-Way works flawlessly.  I am having error lights on the 2-way remote.

I disconnected the battery for a over 30 minutes.  I have everything applicable hooked up except the tach wire which really doesn't have any bearing on this.

What happens is that the 2-way function RED LED goes off and the top AMBER LED flashes.  No abnormailties from siren or antenna LED.  Funny thing is that sometimes the 2-way beeps and sometimes it doesn't!

I don’t think it’s the low battery warning, these errors are different than what the manual states.  I’ve had this installed since last weekend, so I’ve been able to fine tune and go over any of the obvious mistakes.

I really appreciate a quick response!  I still have a navigation head unit and 2 pairs of component speakers to install and would love to have everything done by the end of this weekend.

Here’s what I’ve done so far for troubleshooting:

 1.      I’ve deleted both remotes and reprogrammed them to the brain.
2.      I’ve disconnected the car battery for over an hour.
3.      I’ve verified inputs on every zone.
4.      Took batteries out and put back in remotes.

Is there a way to reset the memory on the remotes themselves?  I tried shorting the positive & negative battery leads, but that didn’t work.

Here is the list of everything I hooked up, I put a Y next to the wires I used and left blank the wires I didn’t hook up.  I know how to wire the vehicle, it’s the control module I’m worried might need something put to ground, etc.  BTW the car is a 1996 Nissan Altima GXE with no factory alarm.  The door pin, trunk pin, hood pin, brake shutdown all work fine.  The lock, unlock, sensor/siren and remote start all work fine.  I read this is a common issue and some people have put a 10k resistor on the antenna wire and some people pulled the fuse from the brain.  If either of these work, please let me know and let me know how to pull the brain’s fuse if that will work.

Do you have the neutral safety wire grounded?  You don't have a "Y" next to that wire and you'll need the switch plugged in/turned to on position

Yeah, sorry, my mistake, I have that grounded with the switch on.

Well I see you didn't run a Tach wire, have you set the proper Tach settings?

Do you have a bitwriter or have access to one?  You could try setting both remotes to 0

I don't think TACH is required for automatic transmission, so I set the TACH to off on the brain...and there are no siren chirps, so I assume this is ok.  I will hook up the tach as soon as the weather breaks.  Wiring digrams are all wrong for my Altima, it's really crazy about 75% of the colors do not match up.  I think it was because of the keyless alarm module that was originally installed in 1996!  I had to find all almost the wries myself with my fluke!  I think the installer ran wries all the way to the ignitiion solder points next to the key starter!

Isn't the bitwriter for the brain?

Any solutions yet? My 5701 started to do the same thing.
Sometime does, some time doesn't. Today,, doesn't work.
I mean, it works, just no confirmation. Defective??
