I have a 2009 gmc sierra with a factory rs there is a few problems
1)Rs will only run for 5 mins
2) RS will only let you start it twice . then you have to start it with the key
3) The range is horrible have to stick my arm out the house to start
I have used your guys forum before and find it really helpful . I apologize if this has been touched on already . i did do a search and looked back a few pages and never saw anything on this .
Any help would be greatly appreciated as there is a few of us with these trucks and it doesnt even warm the truck in five mins .
Thanks in advance
Greg

Have you contacted the service department at the GMC dealer?  You would be amazed at all of the things they can change with their computer.

a freind of mine had his defaulted for 5. if you look in the manual, you can program it for 10 min. max, but only start it twice.

Yeah, what tedmond said. Have you timed it or are you guessing at the runtime? I thought they were all 10 minutes default....maybe someone changed it?
In summary:
--Measure your runtime and if it's not already at 10 minutes, check with your dealer.
--You can, while the remote starter is already running, press some buttons and extend the runtime another 10 minutes. Check the owner's manual.
--There are aftermarket kits, fairly easy to install, that give you an on-glass antenna, new remotes, and greater range. However, they do nothing at all for the runtime issue.
--If the runtime isn't good enough, the only known solution would be to completely install a whole new remote starter, just like you would on any car that never had one.

just read the manual and your right it is 10 mins x2 or you can extend the time during the first start for up to 10 mins but then you can't start it again for a second 10 mins . this sucks big time . and is almost worth it to install another remote start .The truck isnt even warm after ten mins and always require a second start . Never mind if you get busy with something and come back after 30 mins and cant start the truck .
