hello all,
a friend has a 2001 dodge ram 1500with a hornet 553t installed 8 years ago. he is now having problems starting the car with rs or key. all fusses and wiring look ok .i haven't had a chance to meter the wires yet.when i tried to remote start and tried with key you could here the starter motor click.which i believe the starter motor is bad.some times after the third attempt with rs or key it will start.does anyone have any ideas as if something with rs alarm might be causing issue? i did not get to see what bypass was used as i did not do the install. this has started within the past week. any ideas or help is appreciated.
     thanks

If the problem happens even with the key, then the problem could be pinpointed to a mechanical issue not with the RS.  But thats just my quick diagonsis.

Back in 2001 the bypass is prolly, a universal key in box module. DEI# 555 or 556
