Ok, I can't figure out what the DEI manual is trying to tell me on this one.

I've had a 5902 and an Xpresskit Chall installed in an 09 Challenger for a few months and it has more or less been working fine. I've had a couple of instances or arming without locking the doors, and one instance where the remote start stopped working, but I recovered that by reprogramming the CHALL.

This weekend I hooked up a backup battery (520T). Now the car will only run about 10 seconds after remote starting. When I check the diagnostics, I get 4 flashes which is "transmitter shutdown". Can anyone illuminate me as to what this means and how to correct it. I thought adding a backup battery would be simple.

Thanks, - Lowell

Sounds like tach issue! But the unit says otherwise! Have you tried re-learning your tach?

yep, it was a tach issue - kinda convoluted tho.

Unknowing to me, the default mode is virtual tach for the 5902. I had assumed that since I had a hardwired tach connection, that the 5902 would automatically detect - but no. I reprogrammed to use the tachometer instead of virtual tach and now it stays running. Adding the backup battery somehow confuses the alarm when it is in virtual tach mode. Does this make sense???

No it doesn't confuse the unit! Probably when you disconnected the power to connect the battery the settings reverted to it's origninal state! Hence the need to re-program, happens to me all the time! Although dei says, even though the power supply is disconnected the settings are stored in non-volatile memory, the majority of times it does store, at other times few and far in between it doesn't!
