Hello, I have a viper 571xv installed in a 06 Ford Ranger, and I think it is causing some electrical problems, here is what is going on, the truck has died on me twice during driving to work (at almost exactly the same spot on way to work) sometimes the truck wont turn off when you take the key out of the ignition. And then this weekend I started having problems with the heater turning off and running weak, and the wipers not working or running weak, also the left turn signal was not working when heater was on, but worked when heater was off. both mornings that the truck died on me, I noticed that I had started the truck with remote start, which leads me to beleive this is the alarm causing problems. Anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong and if the alarm would cause issues with the heater and wipers and turn signal? thank you

btw the issues with the heater etc. are intermittent, im afraid to use remote start as that could be a dangerous situation.

Firstly, the R/S system shouldn't be the cause of the vehicle shutting down, since it's unlawful to do that in your country, unless the installer went against protocol (which i doubt)! It may  be the cause that keeps the vehicle running even though you remove the keys from the ignition! Some of the issues there sound like a faulty ignition switch, (this is me guessing here), the shutting down could be a number of things, again faulty ignition switch, weak battery, crapped out alternator, the other issues may some how be related, but it would be wise to address the issue of the vehicle shutting down randomly first!

My first advice would be to consult a professional, who can troubleshoot! If you choose to DIY, then as far as my knowledge goes i will assist, the other members of this site may have to help though!

pull the fuse to the the viper and see if your problesm still occur. If so, its not the viper and time to troubleshoot the ignition barrel.

ok, thanks for the help guys, I might check into that ignition switch, sorry, I forgot to mention that I checked the battery (which is new) with my voltmeter and it is fine and the alternator seem to be fine too, it read 14.4 volts with engine running.  The reason i think it is the remote start is because the only two mornings the engine died, I had used the remote start and never happened when I started manually. The installer didnt program anything because it worked fine when new, I have had it in for about 3 years and it just started recently. Also it happened at the same intersection on my daily drive (within a few hundred feet) which makes me think it dies after so many minutes.

If I pull the fuse to the Viper, I wont be able to remote start it anyways and since it has been intermittent it will be hard to tell that way. I have been looking for a loose ground or short, but havent found one yet, my troubleshooting skills are not that great. thanks again.
