Hi im donig a 01 nissan altima put in viper 5701 2way remote start and alarm and i have every thing i need and hooked up every wire. im confused about the 2 starter wire and how to hook them up. i check every document that explain about how to hook it up but im still clueless. Also other web sites say to isolate the ascaory wire. Can anyone explain it clear with me, step by step.

You can do it 2 ways.

1. Just connect both starter wires to starter output from remote starter.

2.Use a relay, with a positive trigger, and postive output, now connect that output to the 2nd starter wire.

I believe you can use the Flex Relay on the 5701 to provide a second starter output for your Altima's Statr 2 wire. A Viper installer on this site can probably jump in with the exact wiring at the 5701.

Follow the Bulldog info to isolate the acc wire connection. You will need a relay for this. http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/diagrams/extrainfo/diagrams/14301_ALTIMA_NISSAN%20ACCESSORY%20ISOLATION%20CIRCUIT.pdf

This ACC isolation prevents the 5701 accessory output from feeding into the IGN switch circuits and makes it look like a normal acc output to the car during remote start.

I'm still confused herd that I can use the pink black wire and the pink white but where to u hook them up to and how do I program it. I seen it on the viper install book but not to clear to me. Can any one give me a step by step on this. Also did anyone ever do a 01 Nissan altima

From the Vipers connector H3 (ten pin connector), it looks like the Pink/Black is not connected. The Pink/White goes to Start 2 ( Blue/Black ) at the cars ignition switch. Then you must program the Vipers Menu 3, Menu Item 8, for Option 3 (Start 2). That will give you the 2 seperate Start outputs the car requires.

This is from the 5701 install guide. I install Ultra Start and Compustar units so I am not a Viper expert by any means... Perhaps a Viper person can jump in and assist you more, especially on the programming aspects.

hey kregs,

the flex relay can be used as an additional starter wire if its programmed to do so. however the altima has 2 ignition wires, so the flex would be used for 2nd ign. This is why i like the compustar, has all wires needed on one connector.

to OP, what you want to use is a relay, and the (-) start output from the viper

85 - (-) start output from viper

86 - constant 12v

87 - constant 12v

30 - to second start wire.

Ted is correct. If you are already using the Flex Relay output for IGN2, then you will need an additional relay to power Start2 as Ted described.

( I was using the Bulldog info for the Altima and it only shows one IGN for that year car.)

Altimas don't have two ignition wires.

They have one ignition, two accessories, and two starters. One of the accessories comes on in the Acc and Run positions...this only powers up the radio and other non-essential items; you don't need it for remote start.

You should have the following:

All red and RED / stripe wires connected to constant power

Pink connected to the car's ignition wire

The car's bigger starter wire cut in half, and the "key side" of the cut wire connected to the green from the Viper, and the "starter side" to the purple wire.

The pink/white Ignition 2 output connected to the car's smaller, second-starter wire. You must also go into programming and change the default Ignition 2 setting to be "second starter" or whatever it's called.

The car's WHITE/ blue radio-accessory wire doesn't need to be connected to anything.

Here's a Bulldog diagram for isolating the car's accessory wire:

However, you don't need to buy or connect the relay shown in that Bulldog guide, because your Viper's "flex relay" is the same thing, built right into the unit.

Look again at the Bulldog diagram, and see terminals 87a and 30 on the relay? Now, go look at the Viper's install guide....those "flex relay" wires coming from the brain are simply 87a and 30 just like in the diagram. You should be able to just connect them accordingly.

I've only done a handful of the newer Viper units; I hope someone will come along and correct me if I've missed something.

Chris and KTM you both pointed out something VERY IMPORTANT!. If there are 2 starter wires or 2 ignition wires etc. The manufacturer put them there for a reason. DON'T join them together diode them apart for signal and relay them apart for power.
