Hey guys, this is my first car alarm and I have a question here...
I of course need a constant 12v input to the module ( I have a Directed 460hp ) and I know that the red wire on the ignition switch harness is what I need but I have TWO red wires going to that harness, how do I know which one to use, or does it matter? I'm pretty sure they are both solid red with no stripes or anything, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you saying that the dei has 2 reds or the ignition harness...?  YOU need a meter to check...How are you checking wires...Or you are just assuming its correct...It is common for there to be more then one 12v at ignition harness...

Yes there are 2 red wires going to the ignition switch harness. I do have a meter but I've been assuming the sheet I got off this site was correct because I wasn't sure how to test them with the meter. So are both the wires constant 12v?

probably...Tech sheets often have mis-information...That is why you need to verify EVERY wire with a meter...Black lead to metal and red lead to suspected wire(to test for +)...Cycle the key...If it stays at 12-14 volts...You're good...! Put the meter on 20v DC setting...! Again...this should read 12-14 volts regardless of key position...

A) How can you test without a power source?
B) How many times do we have to tell people not to assume and test?
Somewhere under the hood, either at the battery or in a fuse box should be a fuse marked ign, or ign 1 or 1gn 2 This will have the fuse rating. Having said that a constant at the ignition is pretty safe.

i am installing a python 460hp and I am working on the door locks. My car is a 2001 hyundai sonata and it has a 3-wire negative door lock system. I found the unlock wire and hooked it up to my alarm using a relay correctly but when I try to unlock it does nothing. Is there a specific location I need to obtain the unlock wire? Or can I get it from anywhere in the car? Right now I have it tapped off a wire going into the back of the fuse box.

WTH! Why did you use a relay, it's negative trigger, the alarm will connect directly to the triger wires in the car, it will be easily found in the harness reading in to the driver door!
