Hi all,

I'm installing a dei 5501 remote start and the instructions say "d2d jumpers: factory setting is horizontal position.  Most xpresskit modules use this setting, see xpresskit install guide for specific setting"

The bypass i'm using is an xk04 and i don't have the d2d cable, so can i safely assume the jumper setting (2 jumpers) should both be vertical for w2w wiring?

not an everyday DEI user, but i think the jumper is for d2d tach readings, not for mode selection between d2d or w2w.

if you want w2w just wire it up w2w.

Hello again!

Can anyone help me with finding the factory alarm disarm wire which is supposed to be in the driver kick panel (dark grn/purple)?  I have no success with this one and using alldata and mitchells, I can't seem to find it listed on either of those guys databases.

Directwire sheet shows the factory alarm disarm wire listed, but no factory alarm arm listing on the tech sheet.

This is a 2000 F150.  Thanks for the help!

look at your brake switch, to the left of that there is the keyless entry module.

there are 2 plugs. look at the plug towards the left. On the top row, PIN 7 and 8, you should see a YELLOW and RED wire.

Diode isolate both wires and connect to disarm.

Would not having this connected cause the truck not to start with the key also?

I finished and it won't start with the key.  I have the 12V going into the RED / Blk on the DEI unit when the key is in the crank position, but nothing on the purple starter output wire.  I did not use a relay for the purple starter output because the manual did not show it as a 200 mA signal only.

Does this mean I don't have to go to work Mon if my truck doesn't run ??

I have this dei 5501 unit on the bench and while I can remote start it on the bench, I can not seem to simulate a start with the key.

Am I wrong in thinking that the remote start input (RED / blk) should by default be bypassed/shorted to the remote start output (purple)?

I expected that if the key sent 12V to the starter, that the rs would just pass it thru.

RED / black primary is the same as red and RED / white.... all three get connected to your main 12 volt feed at the ign switch.... RED / black feeds the ACC and Start relays....

unless you've really got something wrong... this should never prevent you starting your vehicle with the key.....
