Hi my name is Raul and I was given a VIPER 160XV remote starter as a gift for my car 2005 Kia Spectra5. The person who gave me this present, thought that it was a car alarm!!!
Is it possible to be upgraded to a VIPER model with alarm function by just adding a module or specific sensors? Or it's a useless piece of equipment and i should sell it.
Thanks for any input!

It is an alarm and r/s system, why throw it away? You can take it and have it professionally installed or if you are electronically inclined we can help you diy!

From what I read here is that 160xv is just a R/S, not an alarm... can I add components like the DEI 506T audio glass sensor to my OEM alarm system and RS?

How can I add more security features to the 160xv system, like glass audio sensor, tilt sensor, and back-up alarm? I'm a DIYer and quick learner, so I'm probably going to do it myself with help from friends that know a bit of wiring set-ups...

you can add sensors, but the less of sensors, the better.

the backup battery stands out the most to me.

Why is less sensors better? I would think the more security features the more protection. I'm adding DEI 500t (shock sensor) and 506T (audio glass sensor), and maybe buying 504D (shock sensor) and515R (back-up battery siren). What do you guys think with the Viper 160xv and my factory alarm system?

the more sensors the greater chance of backfeed and one triggering the other sensors.

just use one shock sensor, backup battery and you should be golden
