2003 hyundai accent problem

Hello all, I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent that only has one working headlight. The passenger side headlight has been out for two years, but a replacement does nothing. I suspect the problem is in the wiring, due to the difficulty in replacing the headlamp on that side. Do I have to buy a whole new wiring harness or can this area be fixed without a total r & r on the harness?

Where can I find the wiring diagram, what is a dmm and how do I find out what I'm not getting? Thank you

The first think you'll need is a tool to test the wires that are going to the headlight, and the knowledge of how to use the tool. An ordinary flea-market test light would work fine, but if you have a digital multi meter (that's what a DMM is), that would work very well too. Or, to put it more simply......do you know how to test wires for positive and ground? Hopefully some searching around the net will find you some posts about how to use test lights and/or multimeters. Anyway, so go to the plug that goes into the headlight. I believe that car uses a 9004 bulb, which has the high and low beams together.....so that means the plug should have three wires. Anyway, the plug is going to have three wires. Low beam: Should have positive power when low beams are on. High beam: Should have positive power when high beams are on. Ground: Should have ground at all times. Once you know which wire is not doing what it's supposed to do, then you can go about planning to fix it.

I believe hyundai uses seperate relays for the left and right headlights. you may have a bad relay as well. check your underhood fuse/relay panel. if you find they used seperate relays, have someone turn the lights off and on while touching the relay. if you dont feel it click its more than likely your issue

Ok, well now, all of a sudden the high beams work, but nothing on the low beams. I guess I'll just take it to an electrical specialist, because I just don't have the time. Thanks for the help, I was hoping somebody might know of the problem and know a quick fix.
