I am about to install an alarm in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I purchased the PKUCG2X made by DEI. They have 2 installs listed for the 08 Wrangler. One without an OEM alarm and one install with OEM alarm and Multiplex Ignition. Since I do not have an OEM alarm, I assumed that I would use the first install. I contacted xpress.com to verify and he told me that I have to use the second install because all 08 wranglers have the Multiplex Ignition. Can someone let me know if all 08's have the multiplex? I am not hooking up a remote start just an alarm. The main difference in the installs is that the MUX gets cut and put through the bypass kit. Any info would be much appreciated.

if you are only installing an alarm there is no need for the PKUCG2X. its only used for MUX and immobilizer override for a remote start.

So to be clear, there is no by pass needed even though the key has the built in chip for the ignition? Since there is no oem alarm and no remote start being installed, there is nothing to by pass?

Thanks for the help!

You are correct, there's nothing to bypass if the car doesn't need to start without the key...

I have searched the post and am not quite clear on the correct/best way for adding two electro luminescent armed indicator lights to my system.

The alarm system is a Viper 5002. The lights are DEI part number 620V lights.

For hooking it up to a +12v constant. The black goes to the -armed out put which is the orange wire which goes to the starter kill relay. I read that I should use a one amp diode and attatch one to the relay and the other to the additional light. Question I have is should I use a one amp diode for each wire which would be one to starter relay and one each to each light or can I hook both light wires to one diode?

All help is greatly appreciated!

I am installing a Viper 5002 alarm system in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. For the parking lights the jeep has a + output but has one for each side of the vehicle. The viper manual states "A dual diode harness assembly is provide for european vehicles the have the parking light capability for illumination of only the parking lights on the side of the vehicle to the road when parked".

Since I have two connect both + leads from each parking light side, should it be ok to use this dual diode harness for that? It seems that the answers would be yes but I would like another opinion or thought.

Thanks

I am installing a viper 5002 on my 2008 jeep wrangler. This unit has a built in immobolizer for the start kill instead of using external relays. I know that the main starter wire is the yellow/gray wire at the tipcm. The second started wire is the PURPLE / brown (MIX) at the ignition. Can I use the second starter wire instead of starter wire #1? If so, due I need to put a resistor on it?

If I use the first starter wire, where would I cut it at since its at the the passenger side under hood?

I am not installing remote start. Just starter kill from alarm.
