Hello all, I am new here and putting this in my 1997 ford expedition eddie bauer edition. It is loaded with every option. I have started to hook up the remote start part of this and have run into a problem and could use some advice on wiring this into my ignition harness. I have done numerous stereo installations, but I have done nothing like this. I have downloaded a copy of the wiring diagram from here, and downloaded the installation instructions for the 5701 to which these could be more detailed, but am confused as to why there are other diagrams with different functions? Like bulldog security and commando have slightly different wiring diagram functions. I have done a lot of research on this, and here is where I am at now.
Off the ignition harness: I have the dark blue wire attaching to the pink wire of the 10 pin connector.
The red w light blue stripe(cut) to the violet(car side kill wire) and the green to the key side kill wire.
Red w black stripe to the pink w white stripe.
These connections are the only ones I did cause they are all the same on the diagrams I downloaded. I have found all the wires needed to make these connections, but not sure because I downloaded 3 diagrams to compare, and there all different. Could someone please let me know if what I have hooked up is correct, and what wires I need to hook up to the 10 pin to complete this part. Relays if needed? None of these connections have been soldered yet. I am confused as to which wire goes to the constant 12v(yellow wire) Currently I have the red 30amp fused going to the constant 12v. Are there multiple wires that connect together to the ignition harness(fused ones)? I am sure once I get the remote part hooked up correctly, the rest should be easy, just time consuming. I have all this week off to get this installed, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to all who reply.

As you are finding out, the wire listings are just a guide.  The only safe way to do the install is to test each wire with a Digital Multi-Meter.

Most Fords have multiple +12 v constant wires at the ignition switch.  They will be used to supply the 5701 +12v constant inputs.

Here is a link to the AudioVox web site:  http://techservices.audiovox.com/Login.aspx    This is another source of info.  Just register, its free.

Soldering is fun!

Thank you Kreg for the reply. I checked out that site and it has the same info as the others, but thanks for that though. I have tested and labeled all my ignition harness wires with voltages and polarities. My question now is on the 5701 install manual. Is the pink wire(input/output)from the 10 pin connector the constant 12v, or am I connected correctly with the red fused one? For some reason, I dont think its right. There is no real clarification of this on the manual. Some of the wires on this connector I have no problem with figuring out. If I remember reading right that this model doesn't require any relays cause they are all internal. Is this correct? I think that this is what is confusing me. If someone could post which of these 9 wires I need to connect to what on the ignition harness, and if I need a relay on any of these, I would be forever grateful. Thanks again

Thank you Blanx, So I can wire these 3 fused 30 amp wires to any 3 of the 4 constant power wires on my ignition harness(2 GREEN/ purple or the 2 yellows)?

Ok, Here is what I have figured for connections for the 10 pin heavy gauge harness to the ignition harness. Anyone is welcome to post corrections if this is wrong. Thank you to all, I really appreciate it. I also have a Ign 3(transmission) wire, but dont know what goes to that.

If your Expedition has 3 Ignition wires you will need a SPDT 30/40A relay and an in line fuse holder with 30 amp fuse to power the third ignition wire.  The Viper 5701 can handle ING1 and IGN2 directly.  You will use the Vipers Pink wire labeled (-) 200ma Ignition 1 Output  at Pin 4 of the Remote Start Aux Output 5 pin harness.  Wire as follows:

Viper Remote Start Aux Output Pin 4 Pink wire to Relay pin 85.

+12 volt constant from vehicle to Relay Pin 87 and 86.  ( Thru 30 amp fuse. )

Relay pin 30 to vehicles third Ignition wire.

Relay pin 87a - not used.  Cut and insulate.

Soldering is fun!

Hello again, I would like to thank everyone for their help with my install of this system. Well everything went pretty good. I have every thing wired and the remote start works. The only problem now is that when I was putting in the bypass module(791 bulldog) for the remote start, I was checking out the 3 wires on the ign cyl housing that pickup the transponder key, and sure enough, broke right off to the spool of wire thats sits inside the black circular housing on the ign. These are very brittle. So now my truck wont start now cause it wont pick up the signal from the key. Is there any other way of wiring this module so I can get my truck running again? Or can I remove the brittle wire and respool it with new and solder it? There are 3 wires that were connected to this. The 2 outside pins showed a constant -14v and the middle pin was -10.5. Thanks again for any replys to this problem.
