Viper 5901 and ADS-ALDL-HA
1. Do I need a relay for trunk release and FAD if I am using a idatalink module?
2. Can I connect the hood output from ads to viper hood switch input and not use the hood pin that came with the viper?
3. Can i install the R/S without starter kill? and how?

What Make / Model / Year vehicle are we talking about?   You are using an ADS AL CA module with the ADS AL(DL) HA  V3.8 firmware?

The iDatalink module does not give a Hood Status output on all cars, but if your car is listed in the install guide as outputting a Hood Status (-), you can connect it directly to the Viper.

hello, sorry i was in a rush and forgot to include my car make and model. this is for a 2010 honda accord exl sedan. the module is a ads al-ca and it is using firmware 3.8.

No you dont need relays for those if you are connecting directly to the wires in the vehicle.  If connecting the Vipers doorlock outputs to the ADS module, you'll want to put diodes inline with the lock and unlock wires.

If your Honda HAS a factory hood pin, you can use the ADS hood switch output, if the car doesnt have a factory pin, you'll have to add your own.

You dont have to use the starter kill.  Just remove the green wire from the connector and use the Purple to the starter wire.

thanks im almost done with my install. when install a diode does it go towards the viper brain or the ads module?
im 90% complete but when i was using my factory alarm to lock the car it does not work! unlock works but not lock.

scratch the factory alarm nonsense! as i expected the door locks don't work. i used a diode inline with the strip towards the ads module. i have a feeling that might be the reason why...

Remember, Ground (negative) flows FROM the banded end .. TO the un-banded end.

and BTW, positive is the reverse, unbanded to banded

thanks. i got it to work viper 5901 and idatalink -- posted image. . now i'm only having a problem with the viper remote not responding when the car is R/S. does not unlock, lock, or trunk pop. only when the R/S is shut down then it works.

The trunk WONT work when the car is running.

did you hook up the start wire input to the idata module?? (as per the install guide!)
