Hello all,
First time poster here. I purchased the Viper VSS4000 unit off of ebay. Unfortunately there is no installation guide that came with it.
It looks like the unit that it uses to control the auto start/unlock functions is the 5101. I was able to find the install manual online, but I don't even see a remote start 5 pin connector, nor anything on the main control unit that is 5 pins.
Also, after connection all the harnesses to the unit that came with it, there is a 2 row 18 pin area in white that does not have a matching wiring harness, and a red 4 pin that does not have the harness.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Matt

Update:
I am looking at pictures of what the 5101 should look like online and something is not adding up here, maybe I got scammed... from the pictures I see on the internet, mine looks a little different, although it is labeled "5101"
On the unit I have, there is a 12 Pin harness on one side, and an 8 pin two rowed harness on the other. On the front there is a 3 pin black input, then a small blue nub that kind of looks like a cut wire, a 3 pin white input, a two rowed 18 pin white input, a 6 pin green input, and a 4 pin red input.
Thanks much,
Matt

You got the newer style 5101, it is legit if you have all of the harnesses.  The old style came with the aux harness and the 5 pin brake, tach, nss, hood pin, and 2nd status harness, separate.

Awesome, thank you, is there an install guide for the newer one out there?

if you look up the info for the 5101 or 5301 it will be the same wire colors on each of the harnesses.  They all install the same way only difference is less harnesses to plug into the brain box.

Well that is where I am confused, if the 5 pin harness is no longer used, where do I plug the hood pin into?

in the 18 pin harness there should be  a grey wire longer than the rest, that is the hoodpin wire
