I installed a Phonics Digital Remote Start in my 96 Taurus GL this weekend with little sucess.

I was able to get the remote lock & unlock to work but after I get in the car and start the engine, the alarm still beeped after about 1 minute.

The car will crank but not start, I did smell gas so all I can figure is there was no spark. I tried to confirm with the system that it was sensing the tach but I don't think it did. I hooked my tack wire up to the yellow/white wire on coil per the instructions i found here.

Also, there is a wire on the alarm system that is for 'Positive 12v at key cylinder during on and crank' where is this supposed to be hooked up to? The Battery?

I have installed a few remote starts but have not had problems like this before, should I throw it in the gutter and go buy another?

Thanks for your help.

'Positive 12v at key cylinder during on and crank' sounds like this is your IGNITION output wire for the system. Did you not hook up an IGNITION wire ?? When you say that the alarm was sounding, are you talking about the factory alarm or the Phonics system ?
Also, have you confirmed if the Taurus has a factory immobilizer.

I hooked that wire to one of the wires on the ignition switch but believe i may have used the wrong one. My car does not have a factory alarm and I am pretty sure it doesn't have a factory immobilizer. The Phonics system sounded like it was rearming itself, the siren chirped and the lights flased 4 or 5 times.

I was able to get it started today via remote but would shut off after about 10 seconds then it would try to start again. I do not have a pats system so I am a bit confused. Also, the alarm beeps 5 times along with the flashing lights after I disarm it. Maybe it doesn't recognize that the car is on, I don't know... I am puzzled over this alarm. Thanks for any help!

What happens if you put a key in the ignition cylinder,  and then try to remote start the car ? I am wondering if you might need a bypass of some sort.
When all else fails, Read the Instructions

With the key in it does the same thing and shuts off. And if I put the key in and turn to on it will try to recrank while it is runningm. Know it don't need a bypass because with my keyes 20 feet away from me I can start the car by sliding the rod on the ignition switch without a problem.
It is getting signal from the tach now so I don't think that is a problem but it also has a oil pressure sensor wire that I didn't hook up because I have a manuel gauge now and not a electronic gauge. Do they both have to be hooked up? That's about all I can think of-
