I have a 2005 Jetta (MK5 or new body-style) with a Viper 5901 and a Canmax 400 unit. I am a MECP certified installer and have installed the unit as best as I could following all directions for the D2D wiring method and immobilizer bypass.

When I remote start the car the highbeams come on and flicker. They then stay on when the remote start is termintated (via foot-brake). After this happens, I start the car with the key and the highbeams go off but the trunk pops! (The high beams will turn off if I power-off the canmax400 without the trunk popping.)

Now my car thinks that the trunk is open all the time, even when it is closed.

I used minimal wiring as directed by DEI Canmax400 instructions: Only the CANBUS wires, Ignition, starter and 12v+ are used (and a good, solid ground, of course.). These were all accessed in the drivers kick, under the relay assembly (Also according to DEI Canmax Instructions). The canbus seems to take care of the rest (Except tach... which is supposed to work.)

The remote start does work, in this case, but the side effects are unacceptable! Please help if you have information that can save this install...

I plan to:

- Check the integrity of my ground

- Isolate the starter. (Right now I am only using the purple wire from the 5901, not the green that goes key-side)

- Panic for hours.

Thoughts...
change to W2W.
Faulty or wrongly wired CANMAX module.
or more likely
Faulty multifunction module on the car.
