My stepson has a 2005 PT Cruizer with a stock alarm and an added Identity Personal Recognition System (IPRS) installed.  This device won't allow the car to start unless the remote is pushed.  Well, you guessed it, he has lost the remote and now can't get the car started.  This device was installed by the previous owner, and I can't seem to find anything on Google that would help me bypass it.

Thoughts, ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Bring it to a shop and get the system removed or get under the dash and see if you can find the IPRS mudule and grab the model number from there and Google search it for the manufacturer.

Is there a way to bypass it so at least it would start?  I spoke with the original owner who said it was installed at a local dealership.  I can try to call them and ask what our options are.  Just don't want to have to buy a FOB just to either have it lost again, or to just get it started so it can be driven home.

Jeff, isn't this a simple immobiliser device with starter and possibly fuel and or ignition cuts as we have here? If so follow the wiring around the ignition switch loom.

Didn't Code-Alarm make them? I've pulled something similar from a Cherokee, it was US made, not European.

UPDATE!!  It is only an aftermarket starter relay module that has an antenna on it.  It replaces the factory starter relay and relies on constant voltage applied (unsure which lead) to it.  The owner has a special FOB that when pressed allows the starter to engage for a up to 10-15 seconds.

All I did was replace it with a factory relay.  However, to start the engine with this relay installed and no FOB, follow these instructions:

Turn the ignition to start and hold in this position for 5 seconds.  Turn off the ignition.  Repeat 7 times.  On the 7th time, the circuit is bypassed and the car will start.

If a mod feels this post is inappropriate, please feel free to edit and remove the above line.  I know security is an issue, but wanted to allow people who search google to find this post.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
