gentleman hi.

Im a land rover technician and owner by trade, during the summer I installed a fox alarm which includes auto start and key less entry on my 95 range rover classic county. (my first install)

during my installation I found this factory power lock system is aone wire system so I followed instructions for an "F" type one wire system, it worked for about a week. shortly after 5 or so days my relay became hot to the touch due to being constantly energized plus my battery begun to drain every 12 hrs due the constantly energized "F" diagramm relay ... fox has a built in power lock driver block... could I use the internal relay system of the alarm to actuate the keyless entry thus avoiding external "f" diagramm. (I know land rover's system is a funy one wire dual polarity type)

thanks I apreciate your time and response.

The relay should NOT be on at all times, nor should it be hot to the touch at any time. Your door locks require a negative pulse to unlock and an open circuit to lock. The relay should only be active while locking.
Is this how you wired the relay?
Pin 85 lock from remote start
Pin 86 +12V fused constant
Pin 87A one side of cut yellow/orange (vehicle's lock control wire)
Pin 30 Other side of yellow/orange and unlock from remote start
The connections to 85 and 86 are interchangeable and the unlock wire from the remote start can go to either 87A or 30. When the relay is off 87a and 30 are connected, allowing the negative unlock pulse to go to the yellow/orange. When locking the relay activates and opens the yellow/orange.

no, I used the actual  "F" diagramm

85   to 12v constant

30   to under dash

87a to door with 1AMP diode which in turn goes to alarm unluck output

86 to alarm lock output

87 not used.

I will try your suggestion

thanks....

Twelvevoltz, thanks for all your info, it would have worked if my alarm did not have a continuos ground.

fox shows a set of 6 wires for a multitude of combinations for the power locks, so when I followed instructions on wiring positive and neagtive I can get pulse pos and neg signal when needed but when at rest the system mantains a continuos negative out put which is what keeps my  relay energized. I will attempt to install an auxiliary servo to the lock linkeage if it works and I dont develop battery drains it will be it, if not I may go to a different alarm brand.

thanks again.

I am pretty sure you can get it going without having to go through all of that effort, and for no additional money. Do you have the ability to scan the installation manual? I am pretty sure that your system does not have a constant output for door locks. If you can scan the manual and get it to me I would be very interested in seeing what can be determined from it.

ok  thanks alot. I dont have the capability of scaaning but he name of the website is "alarm sell out dot com" and im using the fox 8200 below are two links to the stuff they have in the paper manual I received in the box.

http://alarmsellout.com/support/f-8200-manual.pdf

http://alarmsellout.com/support/f-8200-wiring-diagram.pdf

once you have had time to review the manual and you rather give me a call  to discuss it rather than type and await response and so forth my # is 703-786-2920.... so you do not incur long distance charges once i recive your call I can habg up and retun, that way I pick up the charges.

normally im with my car between 9 and 6 eastern (im in virginia)

again thanks and if it works I may try doing the same in my wife's old 89 jag, it seems to have the same power lock type as my rover (I dont know if I will be up for double the punishment on english electrical systems)

Carlos aka rovertech.

Check your PM...and I would strongly suggest avoiding that brand of system from here on out.
