remote start, 84 cutlass w/ engine swap

first of all im not even sure its an 84 i just know it is early 80's. im not really looking for a diagram although one would be helpful. my real problem is this job was not sold by me so i really have no idea what im getting into. this cutlass has had an engine swap and is most likely carbed and not fuel injected. its a new engine so it should probably start fine. what i really need is a few tips from the old school installers. anything that you think might be a good thing to know about doing a remote start on this old of a car. im not new to alarms or remote start, ive just never dont one on this old of a car. the alarm to be installed is a prestige two way remotestart, not sure on the model number but it is their second from the top of the line, if you can really call it top of the line. but anyway, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

you may need to get a trunk release solenoid and attach it to the intake manifold and send a pulse to it to engage the automatic choke as for the wiring instructions its a simple gm engine just get the tach signal from the distributor cap and get your info for the remote start info

yeah i figured as much, im really wanting to avoid using the solenoid.

Bottom line comes down to whether it will start when cold without touching the gas pedal. It will be very unreliable without engaging the choke and a choke that is not working perfectly. The last non-EFI car i did was a mid 80's Trans AM and it was nothing but a big headache. Started fine warm but without the relaibility of EFI you never know what you will get when the starter cranks...Mike M2

yeah i hope this doesnt turn into a big headache for me but i had that feeling as soon as i was told of the job. i havent even talked with the owner personally yet but the job is set for monday and all i can do is tell him like it is and hope he still wants to do it. hopefully im wrong about all of this and the new engine actually has fuel injection. thanks for the responses buy
