2011 nissan cube

Need to do a RS on an 2011 Nissan Cube, and came across something in the Fortin bypass instructions. On page 2 of the instructions it says that "Permanent damage can be done to the starter if this relay is not installed." Anybody know what the point of this relay is? I can't seem to find any other reference to it from any other install manual, including the install manual at Bulldog or the install manual for the XK07. Is this relay only necessary on the Intelligent Key models?

This is how I understand it: If using a data based bypass module, there is a possibility the starter can be damaged (I think by re-engaging while running). Even if it does not happen when you do the remote start, if the customer has the vehicle serviced (even an oil change) the dealership may update the vehicle firmware which would cause the problem and you would still be liable. I have read that if you use a key-in-a-box bypass this would not happen, however I can not think of one good reason you would not use a data bypass. The relay setup is easy, all done at the box under the hood. Not taking away from Bulldog at all, because they give their information for free...but when doing a system always trust the Fortin information before the Bulldog.Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Thanks for the response. Would you recommend the xpresskit or the fortin bypass? I'm leaning towards the fortin myself.

I have had very good luck with the Xpresskit stuff, and the Fortin stuff is top notch too...but I prefer the ADS/Idata stuff.Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
