I just installed a Viper 5101 remote Start/Keyless Entry in an 2008 ford Focus.

Here is the wiring and how I connected it.

Description -    VIPER Wiring (Harness #)    to    VEHICLE Wiring (Wire Location)

+12v -              RED (8) and RED / BLACK (8) and RED (12)  to  BLUE/RED (ign. Sw, Harness)

Starter -           Purple (8)   to   BLUE/WHITE (Ign. Sw. Harness)

Ign. 1 -             PINK (8)   to   BROWN / YELLOW (Ign. Sw. Harness)

Acc. -               ORANGE (8)   to   PURPLE / GREEN (Ign. Sw. Harness)

Key Sense-           ???   to    NOT CONNECTED, Not Sure what it gets connected to.

Park Lights -  WHITE  (12)  to   PURPLE / /WHITE (Drivers Kick Panels)

Lock -              GREEN (3)   to   BLUE/GREEN (Drivers Kick Panel)

unlock -           BLUE (3)  to   YELLOW/PURPLE (Drivers Kick Panel)

Door Trigger -  GREEN (12)   to   GREEN/ PURPLE (Drivers Kick Panel)

Dome Light -    BLACK/ WHITE (12)   to   GREY/PURPLE (Drivers Kick Panel)

Trunk -              RED / WHITE (12)  to  LIGHT BLUE (Drivers Kick Panel)

Brake -             BRWON (12)  to  PURPLE / WHITE (Brake Switch)

FASD -             LIGHT GREEN/ BLACK (18)  to  PURPLE / BROWN (Drivers Kick Panel)

The door lock and unlock work just fine, but the parking lights only flash the rear lights (actually all 3 brake lights) which is a minor issue.

The real problem is the vehicle will not remote start, at first when I would push the button it would do nothing then the rear lights would flash 7 times - Had to program it for Automatic Transmission.

Then they flashed 8 times, NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH Wire not grounded or Switch is off, well the switch was on but did not have the wire connected. Got that straightened out

Now, I hit the button the rear lights flash and nothing.

I also have an XPRESSKIT (Pt # PKALL) connected to the transponder wires.

Wiring:

D2D connected to Remote Start Module

PURPLE / WHITE  to  PURPLE GREY (St. Column)

YELLOW/BLACK  to  YELLOW/ORANGE (St. Column)

BLUE/WHITE  to  BLACK/ PURPLE (St. Column)

PINK  to  BLUE/BROWN (St. Column)

Any idea what the problem is? I think it might be the vehicle KEY SENSE wire but I don't know what should be connected to it.

disconnect the bypass and insert the key into the Ignition cylinder (do not turn key on) and try to remote start. if it does start then it has to do with the bypass. if not you have a problem with the Remote starter
looking at your wiring i don't think the bypass is programing.
it is not hooked up right
your tx and rx look like they are switched around
the blue/white has to go to a GWR (status) wire of the Remote starter
and the pink should go to a true ignition wire of the vehicle (BROWN / YELLOW Ign. Sw. Harness) not at the pats
ford do not require the keysense wire to start
as for the parking lights i bet you tapped into the brake wire in the kick panel and not the parking lights wire. They are both the same color.

Which is why you should TEST after reading the instructions twice.

Do you have the BLACK/ White (Neutral Safety Switch Input) from the 5 pin Remote Start Input, connected to a good chassis ground  and do you have the toggle switch plugged in and in the ON position?

Blue/White from the PKALL to the Blue on the 5 pin Remote Start Input

When all else fails, Read the Instructions

Monty_77 - I will try this and see what happens

The RX (PURPLE / WHITE) is connected to the PURPLE / GREY (RX DATA OUT) on the vehicle.

The TX (YELLOW/BLACK) is connected to the YELLOW/ORANGE (TX DATA IN) on the vehicle.

You think these wires are switched? I guess it would make sense if they are, as far as inputs and outputs go.

SMOKEMAN1 - Yes the BLACK/ WHITE (NSS) wire is connected to ground and the switch is plugged in and turned ON.

but there is no 5-pin harness, only 12-pin, 8-pin, 18-pin. But I see where it's suppose to get connected to (DARK BLUE Pin 10 of the 18-pin harness)

A couple of thoughts.

1.)  All of the wires in the ignition harness are thin gauge.  Instead of connecting all of the remote starter

power wires to this one thin wire, connect them to the thick WHITE/ Red wire at the back of the fuse box.

2.)  PKALL connections.

PURPLE / White RX goes to Pin3 Yellow/Orange
     Yellow/Black TX goes to Pin4 Violet/Gray
Pink IGN goes to BROWN / Yellow in ignition harness
Blue/White goes to remote starter (-) 200mA Status Output  (H2/10 Dark Blue ? )  ***very necessary

Soldering is fun!

Did the PKAll program OK?

Are the Vipers' D2D jumpers in the horizontal position?

Are there any "Security" type lights on the instrument panel during remote start attempt?

Did you try disconnecting the PKAll connectors and then a remote start with the key in the ignition, but not turned?

Soldering is fun!

Well when I tried to program the PKALL via  the instructions, it says to hold the program button in while you connect harness 1 and 2, when the RED light comes on release the button then turn key ON until light goes out. - well the light never goes out.

I am pretty sure the JUMPERS are in the horiizontal position, I never touched them, the instructions say horizontal position is used for most applications.

Well the vehicle never even attempts to start:   hit the button, lights flash, module clicks and nothing happens - no dash lights or anything.

I did d/c the PKALL and tried to remote start with the key in the ignition and OFF - NOTING, even with the key ON - NOTHING  but with the key on the horn chirps when I hit the remote start button, but it will not chirp any other time (except for with the door locks).
