2003 toyota echo keyless entry

Hi,
   I wanted to install a keyless entry w/ starter kill on my 2003 toyota echo. I was wondering if anyone had first hand experience with this on the same vehicle. I think I found the necessary wires, both inside and outside the passenger compartment, but I wanted some confirmation and also any tips on where I should tap into the wires as well as mounting the relays, keyless system, etc. Thanks!

Knowing the Brand / Model of the remote start w/keyless system would help.  Also, did the Echo come with

Factory power locks?

The Echos' power door locks are standard Type B (-).  Most popular remote start systems can directly interface

this car without relays.  The connection point for the door lock / unlock wires is in the Passengers Kick Panel
according to Bulldog.  Audiovox has this info:
 Power Unlock     GREEN/ BLACK  (-)         POS.10 OF 14 PIN CONN.IN DR.KICK PANEL  
 Power Lock         BROWN / YELLOW  (-)     POS.12 OF 14 PIN CONN.IN DR.KICK PANEL

As you can see there are some differences between the guides so testing with a Digital Multi Meter is highly

recommended.

thanks for the reply. I was actually more concerned with the starter kill wiring because I definitely don't want to mess that one up. Or do you think I should do a fuel pump kill instead?

I guess I was wondering where I should tap into the wires, in the steering column? Under the dash? In the engine bay? I am going to be adding a power lock kit, probably from commando car alarms, any one familiar with this kit? Good, bad? Thanks again.

You definately want to get the starter kill and ignition in at the steering column just below the switch. The starter is black, ignition is BLACK / YELLOW. You can also get the power for the unit here if you want, use the WHITE/ red. Make the starter kill relay wires long enough so that the relay is far enough out of the way of the column shroud. If you want to connect the horn honk get that here too, WHITE/ red at the plug going into the clockspring. Connect the parking lights as a negative and you can get this wire here while your at it, GREEN/ black at the switch.
