I have an amenity re4 remote entry unit, it works well except I can not get the trunk channel #2 to fire.  I have the unit set to use a relay and the RE4 docs say that the GRAY wire acts as a low current ground when the trunk button is held down. In no case can I make this happen. I do hear a relay click in the unit when the lock or unlock fires, but no noise when trunk button is pressed, as well as no ground out of GRAY wire.

If I ground the relay connection manualy it work so I must have wired the relay and trunk release correctly, I just need some output when trunk button key fob is pressed.

Any help would be great.

never heard of the unit, but read the manual, maybe it's a programming that needs altering, just a thought.

Use DMM, set to 20VDC, red probe to 12V+ constant, black probe to grey wire. You should get 12V+ when you press the trunk release.
If not and everything else works, then you have a faulty unit.

You're probably right Darren, I've been having second thoughts red and black as lock output colours? Sounds confusing unless this product is as bad as it's unknown.

My logic was, DVM set to conductity, Greay lead on one side Ground on the other, press the button and no conductivty.

Sounds like the unit is bad to me, but I was looking for a hail marry

Dan104, your method works just as well, we still got the unwanted result
